The (now deceased) VisualHub is excellent for this (I just used it again last
night to convert 5 TV episodes from .avi to .mp4 & add them to iTunes all in
one go). If you're lucky you might find it floating around the internet (I
found a link here:

Hawkeye will also do the job but is payware and severely limits the
options available for conversion.

My version is 0.9.1 so perhaps I need to update :-)

Ive just downloaded Perian but Handbrake still won't do it. I thought
Quicktime would have done it as it played in Quicktime but when I went to
export it still came up with the Flip4Mac message and put the watermark on.
