And some old people! (Mrs is addicted to Gimmi Friction Baby and has a
high score of 44). Even if it did support Flash, I'm not sure she
could hold an iPad for very long because of the arthritis in her hands
/ fingers.

Agreed, in contrast to the iPod.

The first time I played with an iPhone was round my mates (he'd been
sent one to try by O2) and I went to access a web cam site from a link
daughter had texted me from a nightclub she was at in Bulgaria (the
cam address was advertised on the signs and displays in the club).
Didn't work of course and by the time I'd got home and onto a real
computer she'd gone. ;-(

Whilst I could see the iPad has it's uses it would feel as 'broken' as
Dads OS9 iMac does to me (because of the things that don't work or
don't work fully). [1]

Maybe such support will be drip-fed (as with the iPhone) or hacked in
by 3rd parties?

Cheers, T i m

perfectly functional as an electric typewriter and that's what he
mainly uses it for.

Yes. I've been coming to that conclusion, certainly for v.1.

Pity, as it means my sister in law wll have to get something else.

I can feel a netbook coming on.

I don't know, I just saw the title and the first few minutes.

There isn't much software on the emulator, address book, prefs and
whatever you put there yourself. But it isn't really there to demo the
capabilities of the iPad, it is there to let you see how your
applications would run on it.

You can see the suboptimal effect of running iPhone apps on it, that is
for sure.

You are too late Jan, I somehow managed to misread the specs.

I am looking for a mobile device for emails/websurfing and for use with my
DSLR when travelling. I was originally thinking of a MacBook but that's a
bit over the top for what I want on the road. Then looked at the iPod Touch
but it's a bit small so the iPad looks perfect for my wants.

There are printing apps for the iPhone that work nicely - HP do a free
one which automagically found my networked HP printer...
