But as you say, it's a beta. And if they intend to do an Apple cloud of
their own, which the reports of their massive new data centre seem to
suggest as a possibility, then you wouldn't see anything until that was
going.

Maybe it needs some system where there is some kind of global 'soup'
that it can access? I am sure that would work.
