/If/ the iPad _can_ do that then, yes, it is almost there. However, a
lot of the requirements are preconceptions rather than needs. I print
maybe half a dozen pages a month - but I wouldn't want to be without a
printer or the ability to print even though I could get round it by
email to fax to my fax machine...
For someone using this [the iPad] as their first computer, the mind set
is going to be such that they will want a machine that can print. Maybe
after using it for a while they will realize that they don't bother
printing any more - however, if you start from the premise that you
_can't_ print then it's probably a non starter for them.

After my parents died and their company in Geneva had long been wound
up, there was a ton of paper records up in the loft, going back some
fifteen years, maybe more. Boy, it was nice to junk it all.

My main requirement for printing these days is boarding cards for flights.
Now if the scanners can read the barcode straight off the iPad I wouldn't
even have to do that.
