By the look of it, that app is just a layer on top of iPhone Explorer,
which seems to exploit the "data as images" loophole I was talking
about. See Lifehacker's screenshot at http://j.mp/cfRZ54 - it shows the
"root" as the parent of the DCIM folder used by cameras (including the
one on the iPhone) to store images. It's not the real root.

It's a clever hack, but a loophole that Apple doesn't want to allow.

The iWork apps for iPad can do this, so I think that makes it official.
Well, depending on the country you're in having iPads etc.

Incidentally "printing will come" according to Steve Jobs.

<shrug>

If I could find one, I'd not be asking here.

What does that mean?

Not to me it doesn't.

Can anyone give a real explanation of *HOW* Apple stopped people writing
syncing software?

.... and why.

It is up to apple whether they arbitrarily remove your software from
their store, making it impossible to sell your software. And as they
don't ahve to give any reason why they did it, it is probably wise to
keep with their rules.
