From: Ritch_DA on 18 Mar 2008 07:21 Hi Henrik Ah I understand. Yes because the Mybook it works as you would expect i.e. the drive appears in My computer as soon as you plug it in. The Lacie required drivers, then created a new network connection to communicate with the drive via the USB cable, talk about over complicating things! Yes the charge was only £35 in total including delivery, so it's no big problem. Thankyou and others for all the help with this problem, much appreciated. I have used these enclosures with both Samsung and Seagate drives. http://mediasonicinc.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26_34&products_id=46 I have found they keep the drives cooler than most brand name solutions that come with drives installed. I have a couple of dozen in use at various sites. Granite Digital also makes some excellent products. http://www.granitedigital.com/index.asp I haven't used their USB products but I have used one of their eSATA enclosures to add more drives to a server that was out of room. I was impressed with the quality of the parts and their service. -- Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience: Systems Administration http://www.vistahelp.ca/phpBB2/ "Ritch_DA" <RitchDA(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AC4BB10E-87BE-4913-B5DD-4C981220C641(a)microsoft.com... > Hi Henrik > > I have just organised to have the drives returned, got slightly stung with > a > charge but that's my own fault. > > Thing is with regards to the supported OS issue, I have a 500GB Mybook USB > which just sais XP compatible just like the Lacie and that works fine with > SBS2003, in fact looking through the list of drives from my supplier none > of > them so far state compatibility with 2003. > > Can someone recommend a 500GB USB drive which they know works with > ntbackup > / sbs2003?
