From: Ritch_DA on 17 Mar 2008 04:50 Hi there I have just installed a 500GB LaCie ETHERNET DISK MINI GIGABIT NAS on one of our networks. Everything is working fine, can access the drive through the network, save files etc. I have gone to configure SBS backup wizard to schedule a full backup to the disk every x days, tried to run a test backup and it fails with the following error message: Backup Runner started. Launching NTBackup: ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Backup\Small Business Backup Script.bks" /d "SBS Backup created on 14/03/2008 at 09:29" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:off /m normal /j "Small Business Server Backup Job" /l:s /f "\\Bte_nas\test\Backup Files\Small Business Server Backup (05).bkf" /UM NTBACKUP LOG FILE: C:\Documents and Settings\SBS Backup User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\backup07.log =====================<BEGIN NTBACKUP LOG FILE>===================== Backup Status The operation was not performed because the specified media cannot be found. I have already emailed Lacie about this but so far had no reply. can anyone advise on how to get this working ASAP? I have had no experience of XFS file systems and I think permissions is probably the issue. Many thanks Ritch
From: Henrik (Hear) on 17 Mar 2008 05:09 Why are you using the XFS filesystem, Is there a problem using NTFS wich I believe is a demand If using NTBackup? -- Henrik Arenblad, MCP SBS, "Ritch_DA" <RitchDA(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0FA9A176-56A2-46DD-AA43-5972C27C07B4(a)microsoft.com... > Hi there > > I have just installed a 500GB LaCie ETHERNET DISK MINI GIGABIT NAS on one > of > our networks. From: Ritch_DA on 17 Mar 2008 05:43 Hi Henrik I may be wrong but it seems that the XFS file system is fixed on the Lacie NAS. I have looked through all the admin and there doesnt appear to be a way to format the drive with NTFS. From: Henrik (Hear) on 17 Mar 2008 07:38 Ok, Im not sure but to doubble check your backup, try another test but to another NTFS formated drive to see If it does any differences. If it works to another NFTS formated drive then you will have norrowed the problem down a bit -- Henrik Arenblad, MCP SBS, "Ritch_DA" <RitchDA(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7B9F0076-E642-458E-A1F4-F965A8C15DCD(a)microsoft.com... > Hi Henrik > > I may be wrong but it seems that the XFS file system is fixed on the Lacie > NAS. Hi Henrik I am 99% sure its an issue with the clash of file systems. I really hope Lacie come up with something, cannot believe they would make a backup drive that doesnt support ntbackup.
