From: Mike on 17 Feb 2010 23:25 My niece needs some aid in finding a software package to build web pages. She's a beginner - she's gotten a part time job with a state legislator who needs her to build a web page. I did some Googling but I don't know anything about it so I don't know what to tell her. Any suggestions are appreciated.

An install of Wordpress on a hosted site that does automatic security might be the best approach, then. You'd basically be providing dated postings, undated pages and photos. Steve

My recommendation is to take a look at Freeway, which comes in two editions, Freeway Express and Freeway Pro. Freeway allows one to create a website without having any knowledge of the underlying HTML code. Furthermore the Freeway interface is completely visual. And furthermore Freeway is unique amongst website development applications in that the underlying code produced is fully W3D compliant, something rarely achieved with other website development applications. Freeway can be found at <www.softpress.com> and there are free trial periods for both the Express and Pro editions. -- James Leo Ryan --- Austin, Texas --- taliesinsoft(a)me.com

A state legislator that needs to deal with a wide audience and this guy wants a total beginner to make him a website? Any relation to George Bush? Let me know when it is done and I will eat this here hat (it is old and dirty as hell) if it is up to any kind of decent standard. Or perhaps the legislator has asked your niece to fix the matter up which includes getting an experienced person or company to do the job properly. -- dorayme

I think you don't understand the lower levels of US politics. A state legislator in a flyover state is about as important as a dog catcher in a big city, or being the mayor of some crappy little southern Ontario town, or being president of the audio-visual club in high school. -- Very old woody beets will never cook tender. -- Fannie Farmer
