While not as...robust as Authorware, I see an awful lot of folks using Lectora from Trivantis. It's similar to Authorware in visuals and functionality, but definitely different too and not as powerful, IMO. Though I have only used it a couple times, and lightly. Personally, I'm working on improving my Flash scripting skills.
