yes.

it will need setup, but that can be done beforehand. however, it's
possible that some wifi hotspots may need additional configuration.

unfortunately, the airport express uses apple proprietary software
rather than a normal web browser to configure it, and that software is
not available on the ipad. you *must* have a mac or windows computer to
run the airport utility.

a much better choice in that situation is a non-apple router that can
be configured with mobile safari on an ipad.

Being a photographer myself and having the baggage apes somehow manage
destroy my Halliburton's latch, leading to the damage of my Hassy 150mm
Sonnar, I decided to follow the advice of a seasoned photographer back in
the 80's, when I did a lot of commercial and industrial work.

With a stencil, I spray painted: "Property of County Coroner's Office/Human
Remains/Handle With Care" on the sides of the camera case. Not only did the
desired effect take place, it usually was one of the first on the turnstile.

Doubt that could be done these days, tho...

Wasn't this suggested early on?

I have one. Under older version of OS X you could also maintain multiple
profiles for quick configuration. This feature went missing with 10.5.?

I use it at home as the interface from the Mac to the stereo (Airtunes);
However, I have a configuration for on-the-road which allow it to be used
as a wireless router for such configurations (ie. wired ethernet). Use
the AirPort Utility in /Applications/Utilities to configure it. Simple.

ROTFLMFAO! It's funny and might have worked... but, as you said, I doubt
that the TSA would understand its dissuasive purpose.

However, I do find that today I am less hassled by airport security carry-
ing my medications (12 pill vials, insulins (3 injectables) and syringes)
than I used to before TSA. LAX security, pre-9/11 actually confiscated my
insulin and syringes stating that they were not marked as prescription.
Dumber than a box of rocks and I mean nothing derrogatory to boxed rocks
everywhere.

The TSA goons really hassle you if you have any sort of implants as well. I
can't wait until the full body scanners are installed everywhere. If
anything else, it will make my travels a lot smoother.
