Better yet, get a Cradlepoint CTR500 Mobile Broadband Router... http://www.cradlepoint.com/products/ctr500-mobile-broadband-router Accepts 10/100bT wired and USB and ExpressCard-34 Wireless cards (Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, etc.). It's small and won't get you tied into one of the afformentioned carriers' 2 year commitments. I've found that I get better bandwidth from my Sprint ExpressCard-34 Air- card than I do from most hotels. This past weekend, speed of the hotel's wireless -- shared amongst all hotel patrons -- was that of a 2nd genera- tion dialup modem. If my MBP had a modem, it would have been faster. I used the Sprint card and streamed 7h30m of 128Kbps audio upstream to the radio station. That would have been impossible using the hotel internet. -- VAXman- A Bored Certified VMS Kernel Mode Hacker VAXman(at)TMESIS(dot)ORG

Then you're screwed. Pay the hotel.

Then there is the Saipido RB-1132 - newer and does exactly what I'm looking for - share a hotel connection. So no, I'm not going to have to pay. Thanks for the awesome help.

So if you already know what you're going to do, why are you asking for help here? Go and do what you think you can do. It'll be a whole lot easier to pay the hotel or to get a MiFi, but do what you want. I'm done with you. |
