Type-in note taker? You can do that with jailbreak, SBsettings, enable that for lockscreen, and include Quick Notes. It's still a swipe at the top of the screen and tap the Quick Notes button, but it's there. Have a look into Lockinfo, which is a "put useful things on your lockscreen" jailbreak app. There are plugins for that for Appigo Todo, Things, and 2Do - none of which I use, so I can't test them, but if they let you add rather than just read your todos, then that'd be useful. There's Custom Homebutton too - which won't change the lock screen effect, but will give you any app you like on swipe-unlock, doubletap Home. It adds a new Custom Homebutton panel to the Settings front page. Cheers - Jaimie -- L33t 5p3@|< 1s f0R R3t4rds

No, a speak-in note taker. I have a little self-contained one, about the size of a credit card, which holds 90seconds of audio - and it's soooo useful. Any quick ideas I want to remember, what I spent money on, books people recommend, shows to go to, restaurants to visit, things I see on posters... Better yet, if someone wants to give you their phone number or website, is just to get them to speak it into the VT-90. Fast and efficient. And they don't make them any more. MST

Custom Homebutton is the closest you'll get - Apple don't make the lock-screen triggers available via SDK, I understand. >I have a little self-contained one, about the size of a credit card, which >holds 90seconds of audio - and it's soooo useful. I just type mine, I very rarely have ideas in the car so the only things I ever want to note while my hands are busy are tunes from the radio, for which Shazam is the right answer. They'd offer the most promise for that sort of thing. Last time I looked they had weather, flashlight and wikipedia widgets on the lockscreen. Perhaps a voice memo app (or just input to the built-in one) wouldn't be too much of a stretch? Or... Ooh, stumbled across something that is perhaps promising; google "lockvox". But it's 3GS only - I think you have a first gen, don't you? -z- -- email: nettid1 at fastmail dot fm

I found an app called Snappy on Cydia and bought it yesterday. It's a camera app that will start a camera from the lockscreen (tap & hold status bar). Bloody great. One of the things that annoyed me was the length of time it took to get to the camera. It doesn't start the native camera app though (uses its own), although you can access your camera roll from it too. You can also bring up the Snappy camera over another running app, use it then quit with the home button, and you're back in that other app. Snappy comes with Activator (available separately) which allows applications (or power/respring/etc) to be assigned to gestures/taps/etc. However, at the moment, it'll only allow (as an app) Snappy to be assigned to anything on the lockscreen. How long before others start writing apps to link in with Activator? Cheers ... Mark |
