Under devices mine shows only Creative SB Live series. Screamer gets my vote for top 10 Priceless freeware. Elmira

There was no help in the Screemer forums, either. > > So far, not impressed! Sorry to hear that. Did you try looking around in your Control Panel "Sounds and Audio Device Properties" module? Maybe something under the "Audio" tab. On my system, all the dropdowns under that tab are set for my default sound card (in my case, a Creative Labs Audigy). Screamer works perfectly for me. Updates it's stations at startup and so simple to use, it really doesn't need much of a help file anyway. -- Regards from John Corliss. I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett. The adbanner in the station search and selecting page is so discrete, in a gray style, that I wont even bother setting up a rule for it in the firewall. Another thing about Phonostar, it starts slowly on each station because the programmer has set it to build a 15 seconds buffer before it starts playing. You can set it to a much shorter buffer to make it start faster, for example 2-4 seconds, on most stations that gives a good result. I find all 3 programs very valuable, and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Phonostar has a very good listing and station search system, gives a lot more stations than screamer and shoutcast and is easier to handle that shoutcast. The buffer gives it less dropouts on difficult stations but gives a delay when starting a new station. Screamer is impressive in how fast it starts and how easy it is to use, but it has bugs which some people suffer from. Limited stations listing unless you want to find out about a station's url and edit a file yourself. Winamp is the most robust and mature program but the shoutcast listings are less easy to use. You have to use a web browser to visit the shoutcast web page. And you have to install recording capability as a plugin if you want that feature. -- Roger J.
