I didn't drink then. I didn't think it was harsh. That's how
we lived at home.

You were rich. When I started saving for college, I was making
$.65/hour. I thought I was very rich because before that
I was making $.07/lb picking blueberries. Or a dollar a day
babysitting brats. I dropped the babysitting; it wasn't worth
the money.

I paid it. You do like to leap illogical bounds.

It depends on where the income came from and a few other things.
Read the 1040 IRS directions.

Yup, in some cases. I think my Mom could live far cheaper.

I said one had to plan. In some areas now, people grow their food on
other property, espcecially where they don't have any dirt acreage.

Like I said, if you evaluate through middle class glasses, that
would be the attitude. Drop the pretenses, and you free
up a lot of time to do really interesting stuff.

Amazing, now nearing 9000 posts and still going strong.
Furthermore, a subtle point, the posts haven't strayed far
from the original post in terms of individual thread-segment
lengths, so Google Groups tree view still nicely handles all
the pieces in a narrow sidebar. BTW, my own usenet-news
server completely lost it on this one long ago.
