As unfortunate as it could be for someone to be in such a situation, and
maybe some people should be helped, in the end it should be something
anyone has a right to do (prison or not).

Yes, true, but if you were imprisoned and were there for likely life,
until you die (say 50-80 years in there), what's the difference between
how terrible that is and death? I doubt one really sounds much worse
than the other in a lot of situations. Regardless, I don't agree that
just because it's permenant, that it shouldn't EVER be done. But,
again, I'm not the one making those decisions or putting a needle in
someone's arm, so I might view it differently if it was a real
situation and decision, because it would be difficult to accept that
responsibility. In addition, I respect that I don't have a lot of
faith in other people's decisions or reasons, and it's not something I
always feel comfortable with leaving that control in other people's
hands (nor do I have the time or motivation to want to personally try
and follow every case, or any for that matter). Tough topic.

Just for the record, Ernst Rommel was not a nazi and didn't even like
the nazi regime, but he was a soldier in the field and he did what he
knew best. ;-)

I'm aware of that. So what? He served the Hitler regime and would have
served a Goering regime.
