My Zyxel router bit the dust and I just within the last 3 weeks bought a
Linksys 160NL to take its place as the main router in my home network. I
also have a WRT54G v5.1 with DDWRT firmware acting as a wireless bridge
communicating to the 160NL to network a DVR and Xbox. The 160NL seems to
function well as the main router. I'm running its stock firmware right now
which is adequate. I have nearly a dozen DHCP assignments based on MAC, a
half dozen schedules to control access time for my kids' computers and
iTouch, and I have programmed several ports to forward for applications such
as emule, my xbox, and the DVR. I run WPA2 security on all wireless devices
and I'm in the G mode. All of this on the stock 160NL firmware. I may or
may not go to DDWRT in the future. If it isn't broken....

~ while the name has changed from linksys to linksys by cisco, you can still

~ products, no wrt stuff, only e-series - several different models)
~

~
~ ps there is NO company named linksys anymore, hasnt been for a few

~ absolutely/positively anything named linksys is old product from a no longer
~ existing company... cisco bought them and they went out of biz on dec

Linksys was acquired by Cisco way back in 2003.

There is most definitely still a Linksys brand; see http://home.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/.
Here are the Linksys products that are currently sold:
http://homestore.cisco.com/en-us/products/more-linksys-products_stcVVcatId552009VVviewcat.htm.

Additionally there is a new brand, Valet (http://home.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/valet/)
(Not to mention the "big Cisco" brand products,
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/index.html#~all-prod).

you may want to actually READ what is written, not confuse people/make stuff
up....

written "ps there is NO company named linksys anymore,"
your reply "There is most definitely still a Linksys brand"

notice you use the term "BRAND"... a brand is not a company... a brand can
be made/marketed by any company....

funny one i ran across was Yum! they now own taco bell, kfc, pizza hut,
etc... they used to be companies, but are now just brands owned/administered
by yum! ..... hmm i'm getting hungry.....
