China needs the US markets and the US needs China to hold onto their trillion dollars and not do anything stupid with it (like spend it in one go or convert to Euros). If China goes down, so does the US. And vice versa. So even if they go to war over Taiwan it will likely be business as usual. Dirk

Unlike the USA we don't effectively rely on the Chinese to pay our taxes too. Graham
