An interest thread. I too have used Free Agent for many years. One
thing that would stop me from switching is not being able to access
the messages I've saved over the years without keeping F A. Is there a
way of moving them over?

I think there's the option in Free Agent to export messages in UNIX
message file or text format. <OT> In Agent 4.0, it's under "File >
Save Messages as.." </OT> The trick is in being able to find the
format that will easily IMPORT into your new newsreader.

Alternatively, your Free Agent folder could be retained to keep your
messages for archival purposes (recommended anyway), and/or you could
keep the exported text files in another folder and use a search
program to reference your old messages.

You might also want to ask in alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent
for compatible alternatives that can import Free Agent messages.

Forgot about this, but there is a small utility called MSGVIEW that
can read exported Free Agent UNIX message files. Just save with
extension .mbx and you should be able to search your exported messages
pretty easily:
