That can't be far away now, and once Flash is available on the iPhone I guess we can say goodbye to non-DRM content from the BBC. >> You can check the bundles yourself - there's no sticky bits to inherit >> any privs, so they're clean. > > Whassat mean? You can read all about "set user ID" (SUID) and "set group ID" (SGID), which is I think what Jamie means, by reading the chmod man page. These are permission bits on executable files which confer (typically) root level rights to the user of those executables. There is also the so-called "sticky" bit, only passingly mentioned in the chmod man page, which has a different function. It prevents users from deleting each other's temporary files and does not confer additional privileges. >> Um. The "find" command has options for locating files with specific permissions, flags, and other attributes. See the find man page. -- James Taylor

Everyone, including you I might point out, recognises that Apple are probably the worst of all at security. Your point, was that this didn't matter, not that it wasn't true. Try to stay on track. > Forget your paranoid panics - look at the damned evidence! Why don't you look at the evidence? Oh no you wouldn't do that would you, because then you'd have to change your stated position and changing your mind to fit the evidence is beyond your ability. It looks like you just like arguing for its own sake and don't care which side you're arguing for. I give up trying to get you to use logical reasoning. You've clearly friend your brain doing drugs. -- James Taylor

You're pretty damned stupid if you've managed to get that grotesquely erroneous conclusion from my words. > You're not too bright, sometimes. And you are very insulting most of the time. Flash on the iPhone? Don't hold your breath. Actually, I think the latest YouTube stuff (and Vimeo, incidentally) is a sign that Flash is heading for a decline anyway. I certainly hope so... -z- -- email: nettid1 at fastmail dot fm |
