OK, time for a flip-flop. New data came in. Based on some reviews of
Safari vs. FF on some reviews sites & on the opinions of John C. Dvorak
& Adam Curry, I took a second look at Safari and now I'm starting to
llike it better than Firefox. Here's why:

o Much faster to load up and also rendering websites.

o Seems more stable. I don't get the crashes I took for granted with FF.

o Based on tests with the Activity Monitor, Safaei uses slightly less Memory.

o Text rendering seems smoother.

o Safari blocks Flash by default. I don't need to run an extension to
block flash.

o Safari has a good Ad Blocker.

o Safari seems to play better with 1Password. The problem with the
LastPass icon is neglible still I'm moving everything to 1PW anyway.

o Seems better integrated into the Mac ecosystem.

On my windows machine at work I'm still going to use FF because Safari
requires admin rights to install and it reportable is slower on windows.

Thanks for this discussion, it made me reevaluate an old habit.

Yeah, right. Have they got the bookmark organizer working yet? If you
complained that a bookmark organizer was kind of basic to
browser-ready-for-primetime, they got all haughty and snotty the way
only haughty and snotty open-sourcers can get.

Yes they do,

I'm going to put a vote out for Chromium nightly, but it really depends
on what you want out of your browser. Want the bleeding edge? Checkout
the nightly builds for Webkit, Chromium, Firefox (Minefield). Chromium
has been quite stable for me as my main browser (apart from flash
crashing occasionally). Firefox doesn't always play nice on my Mac.

Would you happen to have a link to Dvorak's comments?

General comments over the past years on his No Agenda podcasts with
Adam Curry and more specifically on his latest Cranky Geeks podcast
"CrankyGeeks 206: Dan Goodin and Tom Merritt" where they discuss the
merits of different browsers. Also various comments on MacBreak Weekly,
Tekzilla, Maccast and This Week In Tech.
