Quite a big install. Lots of components installed (including a version
of Perl, isn't perl installed by default on OS-X ?). This is a MOTIF
aplication. So I also have openmotif now installed on my server. Will
have to take it out for a spin around the block to see how good it is.

Just open up Terminal and type:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

Then replace TRUE with FALSE when done.

I've found that for everything you need the defaults command for, the
"Secrets" preference pane is easier to use than the terminal.
