It is hard to find a list of what audio kit actually works in OS X, but
the various generic CoreAudio drivers in the OS seem to work
terrifically well with el-cheapo USB audio gear. No need for any driver
disks etc that bedevil Windows.

If you need to make an effort to keep warm then it's much too cold for
diving...

Indeed, having done it on both (with the same packages often) you really
don't want to do music on windows with USB (or firewire).
Optical is pretty good though on either.
