Yes. Wait until the official release announcement. At that point, the release notes will contain upgrade information, which should involve the following steps: 0. Edit sources.list and update your apt cache. 1. Upgrade aptitude, apt, and perl. 2. Upgrade the kernel. 3. Reboot into the new kernel. 4. Upgrade the rest of the system. 5. Reboot into the new udev version. (Because of udev-related issues, this is a 2-reboot upgrade; most Debian upgrades are single-reboot.) -- Boyd Stephen Smith Jr. ,= ,-_-. =. bss(a)iguanasuicide.net ((_/)o o(\_)) ICQ: 514984 YM/AIM: DaTwinkDaddy `-'(. .)`-' http://iguanasuicide.net/ \_/

I love the stable lenny release, I dread upgrading the kernel, mainly because of the NVIDIA driver.. not sure why, but it seems that every time I changed the kernel, besides X not working, it also made my network stop... but that's another story. For now I guess I'll just wait for the release! -- Paul Cartwright Registered Linux user # 367800 Registered Ubuntu User #12459 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST(a)lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". I've updated my kernel quite a few times and didn't had to do any 'm-a a-i nvidia'. Does your network card also require some alternative driver? Sjoerd

I have been using sgfxi to install my drivers, the last few upgrades. But there hasn't been an upgrade in a while, at least I don't remember one messing up my video setup. But that is good to know, thanks! Do you run gnome or KDE? just curious, in squeeze is KDE changed to KDE4 ? my wife still runs KDE3 and it would be a real shock for her to have to switch to KDE4.. I run gnome myself. -- Paul Cartwright Registered Linux user # 367800 Registered Ubuntu User #12459 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST(a)lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
