There are plenty of email to fax gateways out there, which is the only
way I've managed faxes in the last few years.

Or need to keep records for audit purposes. (I spent some of the long
weekend hauling out stuff from 2000-2002 and tossing it into the fire.
Great fun!)

None of which applies to me - but I'd very much like to see the iPad
get backup-to-cloud and wifi printing, which would together make it a
standalone product without need for a general purpose computer.

Oh, I do agree - I very occasionally use a printer myself, and I think
adding printing to the iPad would get it 95% of the way to being a
standalone device.

But if an iPad can email to a fax gateway (which it can) then they
don't need a computer - or possibly a printer, for that matter.
