No, nothing else needs disabling. Once roaming is off mail can't connect
to the network, unless you happen to be at a wireless point.

Great, thanks everyone.

It shows how little i travel, really. In Greece last year I checked
email only, each day a couple of times, out of ritual really, and there
was def an addition to my bill. Also in Italy the year before. I was
amazed how much it was for such a tiny time online. I mean, not a lot of
money in itself, but worrying when potentially multiplied.

Previous trips I didn't have a smartphone.

Buy a PAYG SIM when you get there and ensure data is enabled on it.

That's what I do these days - saves messing about looking for hot spots.
