SD card data storage questions
Hello, I'm working on a stand-alone, battery-powered temperature monitoring device which collects a few megabytes of data over the course of a few weeks. The goal is to monitor the temperature of bearings and a clutch box of a heavy machine under varying loads, and evaluate these measurements afterwards. Most of... 15 Apr 2010 13:38

Can brain damaged Canadians design electronics?
Can someone who left their brain outside on too many sub zero nights still function well enough to design electronics, or are they doomed to drool and post nonsense till they die? -- Lead free solder is Belgium's version of 'Hold my beer and watch this!' ... 29 Apr 2010 23:40
Cheap PCB fab place (for non-urgent stuff)
Gents, Was mentioned in this month's IEEE Spectrum: http://batchpcb.com/index.php/Faq It's not something for urgent projects, you can't have more than four layers and no really small drill sizes but it sure is cheap. Seems like this is run by Sparkfun. -- Regards, Joerg http://www.analogconsultants... 17 Apr 2010 14:07
Low noise guitar pre-amp / ADC
Hi, I'm (trying to) design a dedicated single channel pre-amp / ADC for my guitar. This is a hobby/learning exercise. The ADC will probably be the 24bit cirrus logic CS5381. I'd be sampling at 192 kHz. A couple of questions: 1. the pickups (Humbucker) have a normal resistance but also a hefty inductan... 15 Apr 2010 10:16
Buck converter failures
Hi, I've got an external SATA-USB cradle that gave up the ghost. 12VDC supply (used by the spindle motor) which is then dropped down to 5V (for the logic) via a buck converter (I am guessing this based on visually examining the foil traces -- I'll have to drag out the stereoscope to read the markings on the ... 14 Apr 2010 14:27

Looking for inductor 200uH/1.5A, under 0.400" footprint
Hello Folks, Got an inductor that someone has seriously underrated for saturation current, the 176uH version of this one, footprint S2 (0.394" pad distance): http://www.alfamag.com/PDF/InductorsChokes/Power%20Inductors%20&%20Chokes/SW_150kHz_Series.pdf Found this one that we could probably cram on there and ... 12 Apr 2010 22:34
