Snow Leopard Security (unwanted snooping)
Can anybody point me to a FAQ on Snow Leopard security or toss me a clue? I've disabled the guest account, changed the passwords and disabled anything I can find that isn't necessary, however the snooping continues, so I've obviously missed something. FWIW, this system doesn't need any incoming connections at... 28 Mar 2010 13:25
Cheap Print Server
For various reasons, I have a desire to set up a cheap printer and print server in a certain location. I'm thinking the best way to do this might be to get a very old Mac (cheap) and printer that will use the old style Apple serial cable. The several people that would need to use it could simply come to it wit... 18 Mar 2010 10:29
Can anyone recommend a 3rd-party 24-inch monitor for Mac minis?
I'm looking for a 24-inch monitor on a stand that can raise or lower the monitor and be used with the Mac mini. So far I've found the Samsung 2443bwt but it seems to have become more expensive rather than becoming cheaper in the past 12 months. Thanks for your recommendations. ... 20 Mar 2010 15:28
Powerbook G4 as backup for a MBP?
I recently upgraded from a Powerbook G4 15" 1.33GHz to a 15" MBP. Originally I was thinking about keeping the PB G4 for some types of travel but more so as a backup Mac. However given my MBP is on Snow Leopard (as well as Intel vs. PPC), I'm not sure if using the PB G4 as a backup makes any sense. Intereste... 18 Mar 2010 09:19

Migrating from Tiger to Snow does not get web server migration.
I migrated my Tiger Powermac start up disk to my Snow Macbook by 1. Wiping MB and installing from DVDs including everything like Rosetta... that was available as options. 2. Using latest Mac combo update for SL to make sure all is up to date. 3. Backing up my Tiger main startup volume to an external HD, ... 31 Mar 2010 04:22
File compare between ipod and computer?
Had a hard drive crash and lost my library. Restored the whole library of whatever was on the iPod to my MacBookPro using Pod to Mac. Seems like a great program? Now I am not sure I can sync new CDs from my collection by inputting them into iTunes because there is a major discrepancy between what is on the iPod ... 16 Mar 2010 15:05

S/MIME mail signatures and encryption (for Leopard)
I want to be able to sign and occasionally encrypt mail I send to & from my work address - basically so I can be sure nothing sensitive goes over the open network. I'm using Mac mail at home and Thunderbird at work (the work system is not a mac). Normally I'd do this with GPG, and I have GPGMail working fine.... 14 Mar 2010 15:25
