I believe it was Marx who cautioned that we should occasionally meet with the enemy to find out what he is willing to give up. I accept small wins wherever I can find them. If J. Clarke isn't another insane imbecile it might also have made a point with him. And even if he is, a change in tactics was like a little vacation.
