It's easy and doesn't hurt. :) I do test, but not just any and every app available. I test only those I'm interested in, or for my friends/family, and only on my current OS. I tested A/V and AntiMalware apps on my own Vista before I recommended any to anyone else. I still test casual games sometimes, for several small companies. I'm currently testing a recently updated add-on for Thunderbird, too.
