From: JF Mezei on 3 Jan 2010 16:45 Priam, why do you insist with our arguments ? If you just said "you pay an apple tax". You would make your point and most would agree. But you insist in comparing apples with oranges. You can't compare the cost of a bare motherboard with that of a fully kitted system in a box and delivered to your home for free and with telephone support given by experts in north america. Everyone knows that Apple systems are not in the low end of the market. Everyone knows that you can do most tasks for a low end system. There is no value or point in you constantly repeating this argument. Yes, there is a price difference, but the difference is not as big as you claim. You exagerate the difference and this devalues your arguments. If Apple comes out with a new model that is underperforming compared to the others, you are welcome to *point it out*. But comparing your $99 motherboard with a MacPro is not a fair comparison.

Pretty much all Linux distributions support Mac's PowerPC line. How come Apple doesn't? So far, I have one answer. What the hell does it take before you people understand what's going on? I'm watching a film. Will be back.

Unlike the "Microsoft tax" paid by almost everyone who buys a PC, whether they use Windows or not. > But you insist in comparing apples with oranges. Priam is not about fair comparisons. He is about bashing Apple. Been that way for a very long time. Priam is best killfiled or otherwise ignored. -- "I wear the cheese, it does not wear me."

He clearly has some major hang up about Macs - why else would he have to spend hours of his time trying to put them down on this ng? My guess is that some girl once chose a smooth Mac user's BMW over his Corvette, and he has never got over it.

Given his obsession with cheap, I'd say more likely a Corvair instead of a Corvette... :) |
