Yes, but if you buy your computer from large OEMs like Dell or HP, you don't pay more. In Europe, as I explained time and again, you may ask for refund. That's why, if you intent to install Linux it makes more sense to buy from a local shop that won't force you into buying Linux and offer ebtter service than large chains. Of course, you must make sure that the shop owner isn't biased to the point that he says he won't support your hardware if you use Linux. First, this would mean he's really stupid since he's paying at least thrice the price Dell pays for Windows. (Though, admittedly, those shops do a fortune just cleaning viruses and reformatting HD on computers that come from chain stores :) Nowadays, there aren't many of those shops left: they all went bankrupt. In this kind of context, knowledge pays more than prejudice.

Cheap better than Mac quality PCs. The absence of the Apple logo preaches in favor of a sound purchase. :)

IS your cheap PC able to send Dolby 5.1 or DTS surround sound over optical fibre to a stereo ? The Macs can.
