That's odd, I would think it would just be plain text files, and easy to
index.
I haven't has a spotlight problem with mail, in fact that is why I use
it, the speed of search. When I do the accounts the advantage it gives
me makes up for it's oddities!

I agree with all this, but there is a good point often made that if you
only every encrypt the stuff that "needs" to be kept private, then
encryption itself acts as a big neon sign saying "interesting stuff in
here".

If people encrypted all communications as standard then there'd be no
telling whether what was inside that encryption was secret plans to take
over the world or just a video of your dog on a skateboard.

in a sealed envelope.
