Time machine stupidity
So the iMac is fixed and good with its new disk. Problem is, as soon as I switched time machine on, it wants to back up the whole disk again, even though the only files on it were the files it put there in the first place, becsue the disk has changed. I found a hint on MacOSXHints.com, but it relates to 10.5 and ... 28 Apr 2010 08:22

More bad reporting ... not an iPad virus
This is being touted as being an iPad virus. It's no such thing, it's a Windows trojan requiring following/downloading/installing from an email, but the email refers to an iPad so the windowlickers are already gurgling about it. Perfectly comprehensible origin: http://www.malwarecity.com/blog/ipad-users-targeted... 27 Apr 2010 20:13
i7 MacBook Pros running hot
A few days back I mentioned that my MacBook Pro (Santa Rosa generation) ran very hot, and wondered whether the new i7s would be similarly poor or whether they'd be very cool like the first set of unibodies. Looks like my suspicions were correct: http://j.mp/csKEhj I dont know how representative of the real worl... 28 Apr 2010 14:02
Low end HP printers & OS X 10.6
Dear All Did you know this and not tell me? Turns out HP's drivers for printers like the 1010, 1022, and the like are unusable (for some*) by OS X 10.6. Communication errors, every other page printed, extra blank pages printed, queue held and held until you switch off the printer, and then it needs to h... 3 May 2010 16:30

Can't find the convert to AAC option on the latest iTunes which I used to use to create my own ringtones. However I've just successfully made one using Audacity. iMac 24" hard disk replace
Thought I would jot this down as I replaced the hard disk on my iMac yesterday, and there were a couple of things that could have been clearer on the takeapart guides I found. Machine: 24" iMac, early 2008, 2.8GHz extreme The original disk was a 500GB western digital drive, so after a search I picked a 1TB we... 27 Apr 2010 04:20
