Unsupported Firefox...
We use Nationwide's internet banking service. We bought an ISA. At least, we thought we had. Finally, three weeks later, I contacted their help line- which was indeed very helpful. The upshot was that I was using an 'unsupported browser'. As I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 in 10.5.8, I pointed out ever so politely that i... 19 May 2010 06:05
Angry Birds update out
15 new levels. And I'm still on the first! Took me 3 days to realise you could tap the screen for in-flight actions... Cheers ... Mark ... 19 May 2010 12:42
Partial reinstall of /system files after Monolingual
Prompted by a recent thread about best free utilities, I D/Led and fired up Monolingual on an intel Mac Mini. Yes, caveat emptor: didn't get to some of the small print warnings dotted around the place. So, in short, how easy/reliable/safe is it to reinstall the PPC architectures by a repair/install using the orig... 20 May 2010 00:52

It's here (at last) (was: A bargain? and a What's it worth?)
The MDD G4 arrived today, as described, delivery a bit slow, but it's in good condition. Not as noisy as I was expecting - but then I did have a 2xG5 with 9 fans in it (10 if you count the time it had a Radion 9800 card in it). This is why I so like Apple stuff. I'm still waiting for the ATA hard drive to arrive... 18 May 2010 09:16

Running the i386 part of a fat binary
R <me32(a)privacy.net> wrote: Is there a way of running (from the terminal) the i386 part of a fat binary that contains both i386 and x86_64? If both are present here, the 64-bit component is, by default, chosen. I would like to leave the binary intact (i.e., no lipo). man arch General form... 18 May 2010 06:00
"iTunes Store simulator" for jailbroken iPod Touch?
Hi! Sometimes, I download MP3 files from my home media server to my (jailbroken) iPod Touch while being abroad. Is there a way to integrate these into the iTunes app on the iPod? I can play back them with dTunes, but it's a bit unnerving to remember which track is where. And no, putting all of may music on the... 19 May 2010 03:55
Special characters in file names and cross-platform compatibility
Traditionally the mac OS has been very good with handling special characters from the upper ascii range, even though some applications weren't. So I usually "dumb down" file names to using the plain English alphabet. As far as I understand OSX since its first incarnation has been able to handle the full unic... 18 May 2010 06:00
