For example: you made the gross error of sneering at me on the grounds that I've never had to use Imperial units in real life, except in a microscopic way. I've done bloody real bloody engineering using Imperial units, sonny boy. You bloody well haven't - you've just been an ignorant warehouse skivvy being confused because he can't do mental arithmetic very well. Any time I've been working at the microscopic (or electron microscopic) scale, I've used SI. It's clear that you're just sneering at me for the sake of putting me down because you enjoy it. That's only an issue for German nationals because Germans don't understand the concept of dialect. If it deviates *at all* from `the one true standard form of German', they can't understand it (or so it seems at times...). I've even read an `English for Germans' thingy that explained that us Brits tend to make the error of thinking that we speak the same language as Americans, which error causes us problems when we visit the USA. Actually, the error we make is assuming that because *WE* can understand most English dialects, then so can Americans. But they can't. And the Germans make the error of failing to comprehend the distinction between language and dialect - mistakenly and snootily sneering at *OUR* ignorance while displaying their own... Rowland.
