With mobile me, syncing between macbook and iphone works 100%. When it was
launched it was a bit iffy for a few weeks in 2008, since then i have never
lost a single appointment. Absolutletly and utterly reliable syncing, with
no overheads (ie managing a server).

Entering information on the ipad is surprisingly easy, actually typing is
remarkably impressive.

I can spot a few flaws though. Apple really need to let the OS scale up
properly, it needs to have a central file repositary for users
documents/pictures, which can be transferred to and from through some kind
of simple share.

I have lost a few, and I certainly check now as I don't trust it that
much

I'm curious, to what extent do the ipads have voice recognition
available as a form of input?

Also, did it sync so quick because you were in range of a wireless lan
that it was connected to?

Did it connect automagically to the wireless?

Indications of exactly that were there in a beta version of the 3.2 SDK.
Shared folder support, exported via a virtual file system and USB. Plug
the thing into any PC or Mac and get a drive with folders of all files
you have saved in apps. Just copy things on and off it. No trace of this
since then, even in the 4.0 betas. Madness.

I have to say this is one of the things that makes me suspect that Apple
has somehow lost track of what is important. The current state of file
(or document) handling on the iPhone and iPad is everything else but
user-friendly. It's a nightmare actually. I could live a year longer
with no multitasking but not without some sane support for handling
documents.
