Have you tried LogMeIn.com? The WinMo version is free (works in the IE
Mobile browser with a plug-in app) and the Android version is $30. Since
LogMeIn acts as a connection point, getting the phone and PC to connect is a
lot simpler than with the WinMo remote desktop app, and works with more
versions of Windows (e.g. XP Home.) They offer paid and free versions of
their service. The free version does remote desktop, but doesn't redirect
the PC audio, and doesn't let you copy/paste files between the connected
machines. (Being the infinite cheapskate that I am, my workaround is to
simply right-click and email myself any file I want to transfer from the PC
to my push email account, which is instantly received on the mobile. Ain't
true multitasking wonderful?) ;)

yuck. "doesn't redirect the PC audio." That is one of the neatest things
about Remote Desktop for mobile besides the full screen mode and how easy it
is to transfer files back and forth.

True- both those are in the "Pro" paid service. I just have a heck of a
time remoting in via cellular from some reason. (RDM works great at home
on my own network via WiFi where I don't need it to!) ;)

I'm sure its some firewall or port forwarding issue I haven't sorted.
One of these days I'll figure it out. Until then, LogMeIn works well
enough, and also lets me remote into XP Home/Vista Home Premium PCs.

(I was really hoping MS was going to add RD to the Live Mesh Mobile
software, like its desktop counterpart, but instead MS is pulling the
plug on Mesh, rolling it into the vastly inferior "Live Sync," and
dropping mobile support altogether! Thanks, MS!)

Todd, have you tried switching from the standard VNC ports to some oddball
port the sellphone carriers don't have throttled to prevent the service?

Remote desktop even runs faster on non standard ports through free wifi
because of the port throttling going on to lower bandwidth usage.

I use VNC on a netbook tethered to my mobile. Works quite nicely.
