Same thread, different branch, I mentioned my wife upgraded her 3G to
iP4 for -6. The iP4 was 119, trade-in on the 3G was 125 so they gave
her six quid back and she came home with the iPhone 4.

Few seem to have downgraded though :( I was hoping to tap into a few
with experience.

4.01 improved things 'slightly' ... but I am running out of patience and
the fear of something going wrong going back to 3.1.3 is diminishing ..

I'll be interested to hear if you manage to do it successfully

Just out of interest, did you guys restore first then installed 4.0.1?
(I mean /not/ upgraded - a fresh restore followed by the fresh install,
which I understand is the correct method for a 3G).

Although I didn't install 4.0 (because of the negative reports) I /have/
installed 4.0.1 - due to the many positive reports of it fixing the
sluggish behaviour of 4.0. It is working just fine on mine (was on 3.1.2
previously)
