Funny thing is that the modern approach was to eliminate the
memorization of simple sums and times tables in grammar
school because calculators will always be around.

The latest trend is to return to the memorization drills again.

Don't be silly--you get a lot more in exchange. You get the benefit of a
huge knowledge base, and access to societal institutions, that you would not
have otherwise. The other is just a bunch of vacuuming. If her time is
worth $50/15 minutes, she has more money than sense...and she really has no
right to get judgmental with people about frugality, waste, etc.

By the way, *she* was the one whining about how much house cleaners make.
If she doesn't like it, she should vote with her feet. I'm sure one of
those Portuguese huddled into that tiny house would be happy to do 15
minutes of house cleaning for $20.

Exactly. /BAH has the cheek to accuse others of not knowing the value of
money, yet pays $50 for what is basically a light dusting.

Madness knows no bounds.

For some reason, unsettled thought I was criticising Capitalism. He is, as
always, wrong. I was commenting about /BAH's reluctance to allow market
forces to work (and employing menial labour for less).

Oh well, he really will never quite "get it."

I would! But then nobody has ever offered me a chicken instead of
money.
