Rover was originally a UK car manufacturer that got subsumed into
Austin-Rover-Morris-Triumph and BL and then was the only one to survive
that merger.

Pretty much right except bits of it were sold to more than one Chinese company.

I think one has the rights to the fairly decent 75 ( and 25 ? ) model which'll
doubtless be sold in China, another has rights to their engines IIRC and there
may be other stuff floating around. Something like that.

The 2 main players in this are SAIC and Nanjing Auto.

Oh and Ford bought the Rover name to keep the Land Rover brand safe.!

Given her predilection for bartering chickens for medical care ( I almost typed
medieval care ) I suspect that may well be the case.
