The fact that the NYT, (who released the leak in the first place)
suddenly became very quiet on the topic, should've been a pointer.

And what makes you think they didn't:-)

Now, Tomahawks are subsonic. From the nearest possible launch point
to the intended target deep in Aghanistan they must've taken at least
half an hour. Ample time to make a call and ample time for the
intended target to get away.

The part you failed to recount was when Person X related his
experiences in prison to Person Y.

What's [tinw] ?

Yup. I've driven black ice on North Mountain (US33 from Harrisonburg,
VA to Franklin, WV)... you tip-toe, then you hit fog and you crawl ;-)

Ok, I have seen lots of messages on this thread saying how America has no
empire, nor any intention to get one and wasn't sure where you stood on the
issue.

Thanks.

Yes, but it was only an analogy and didn't need to be perfect. If Homer
recounted the UK's experiences with the way the country learned from its
mistakes in the days of Empire would it be better?

> What's [tinw] ?

Sorry, it means "there is no we" - although I cant remember when or how, I
developed a habit of writing it after I used the term "we." Ideally it was
to show that when I said "we," there isnt really anyone else I can speak for
so it is a misuse of the word.

In the example, it would be churlish of me to use "we" meaning you and I
never learn - as I have no idea if you have or have not and can not speak
for you. Not sure if I have explained this very well but it is late and I am
slightly tipsy.
