It's never bothered them before. At one time it was possible to buy a
new Honda Civic for less money than what the flagship Mac cost.

I know; comparing a Mac and a Civic is apples and oranges (pun not
intended). But so is comparing a Mac and a PC.

I suspect that Apple is quite comfortable with the image of selling high
quality / high price computers. They seem to have deliberately focused on
that part of the product range, avoiding the low price, commodity computer
products that have almost no profit margin.
