LTspice issues. I don't use LTspice a lot how ever, recently I have been poking around with a simple buck circuit that just does not seem to do in spice as it does in real life. I can put those little things aside how ever, I do have a problem when changing values and then exec the sim. It pops up with an error stating some... 22 Feb 2010 09:37
Speaking of high frequency transformer stuff... How would you tackle the problem(?) of 1MHz, 100V common mode on transformers or whatever coupling you're using? Think high side drive. Is an ordinary gate drive transformer suitable, does it need special construction or drive? Or would it be better to use a big fat CM choke to bring things down to earth? ... 25 Feb 2010 22:43
Noise in electrolytic capacitors I am trying to evaluate whether to use tantalum versus OS-CON aluminium electrolytics as the output decouplers for some linear postregulators after a (relatively low noise) switcher. This is for a high gain amplifier that will be operating down to audio frequencies. I've come across references to aluminium elec... 24 Feb 2010 08:37
Behavior of Regulators Near and Below Drop-out This rainy afternoon (East-coasters beware, that usually spells more snow for you), I was amusing myself trying to behavioral model a voltage regulator when you hit drop-out. Then I realized, I've never designed an integrated voltage regulator for general use, only those inside ASIC's where I can control all the ... 21 Feb 2010 16:00
THD and DC performance Is there such DAC in the world, that would allow for: * pure THD ~ 0.0001%, SNR is not very critical. * frequency response up to several kHz * DC accuracy in 10mV range Vladimir Vassilevsky DSP and Mixed Signal Design Consultant http://www.abvolt.com ... 23 Feb 2010 21:38
How to unstick center disk of round slide rule? Gents, My round slide rule is developing a sticky center wheel. I can still move it but afraid my thumbs will rub off the lettering over time. It's this model: http://sliderulemuseum.com/SIC/C35_SIC_SINCO_250_1962.jpg Obviously the old "rub with a bar of soap" trick like on the linear ones doesn't work h... 25 Feb 2010 13:41
Caller ID / Phone interfacing I've been reading about how Caller ID works and think it would be a fun project to try and decode it myself. I already understand a lot about digital circuits, so I think once I had the two tones processed into a logic value, the rest would be easy. Particularly since it all seems to be using the bell 202 modem s... 22 Feb 2010 03:05
Litz wire Who sells this stuff (without paying for miles at a time)? I'm especially interested in stupid thick stuff, like, as large as 8AWG equivalent. Nebraska Surplus for instance doesn't stock wire like this. Tim -- Deep Friar: a very philosophical monk. Website: http://webpages.charter.net/dawill/tmoranwms ... 23 Feb 2010 22:44
Infrared LED / detector design Hello. It's been a while since I've posted. I'm working on an Ir LED / detector for a small robot platform I've made. I'm just having fun really, and learning! I've read a considerable amount about this and I'm not getting concrete facts (or at least what I want to hear) I purchased a Ir emitter and detector... 1 Mar 2010 15:18 |
