Boosting oven temperature range
Hi, I've a small oven rated 200C. I wonder what sort of issues would be involved in increasing this to ~300C? Obviously, putting more power into the unit, etc. But, I worry about things like the capabilities of the insulation, materials within the oven, etc. Though I find it hard to believe that I can eas... 18 Feb 2010 21:50
DC converter
Hi, I am using the following function generator to produce a 60Hz , 16Volts peak to peak output voltage. http://www.globaltestsupply.com/datasheets/4011a.pdf I am using following DC to DC converter and Bridge Rectifier http://cds.linear.com/docs/Datasheet/3970f.pdf http://www.diodes.com/datasheets/ds170... 19 Feb 2010 10:59
FET gate waveform
I'm back looking at an on going project. http://www.zen88234.zen.co.uk/design/Output-2.png I am investigating the dissipation of Q2 the high side FET. The designers prototype (20 miles away) has an IRLZ44Z. My prototype gas an 2SK3704 fitted. The temperature rise is about the same for both FETs though I exp... 30 Mar 2010 19:33
Rebranded transistors?
I ordered some BC557 from Conrad.nl. Normally you can hardly red what is written on a transistor, but in this case the label is silver painted masked, and does not say 'BC557', but 'B557C': ftp://panteltje.com/pub/strange_transistors/BC557_rebranded_img_1806.jpg Also it looks like the top has been grinded so a... 21 Feb 2010 23:49
Opto Isolation issues

Obviously the opto's bjt's may not be the same spec as discrete, etc but all the info should be in the datasheets. You wish. ;-) Although if you're lucky, you might find a plot of CTR vs. Rbe. Otptofets
Are there devices that are fet based and have optical isolation? e.g., maybe something that uses a transformer to isolate the gate? I remember seeing, I think from TI, some very small transformer isolation IC's and I imagine one could combine this with a fet to get some pretty responsive isolation like behavior... 19 Feb 2010 00:02
Rewinding a shorted SMPS transformer
I have a defective SMPS transformer which I cannot replace and am contemplating rewinding the primary which has shorted internally. I've rewound 60Hz power transformers in the past with no problems. What are some pitfalls that I might run into when attempting this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Jim ... 18 Feb 2010 09:27
