Press 'n Peel laser PCB's opinions
I am thinking of trying "Press 'n Peel" film with the idea it would be more reliable than the homemade toner release papers, etc. Can anyone who has used it, please report their good or bad experiences? Any hints to obtain better results? Or is it not significantly better than the type of process described... 8 Feb 2010 00:12
2A wide amplifer for XR2206 sig. gen.
I am building a workbench function generator from an XR2206 chip. Would anyone here have a tested circuit for an amplifer that I can fit that can provide _DC_ to 2MHz at 2A output? Push/pull running off 12VDC single rail would be ideal. Best regards, James Palmer ... 6 Feb 2010 16:20
Bleeder resistor to dissipate static
How viable is it to use a bleeder resistor rather than a direct galvanic connection to try to cut down the transient induced by static? In our system we have moving paper that will generate occasional discharges to a large metal plate which supports the mechanics. Underneath that plate (~1 inch) there is a circu... 8 Feb 2010 00:12

Fast, efficient IR LEDs?
I need a fast IR LED (> 20 MHz, < 50 pF) for an optical feedback gizmo. I have some Stanley DN310s, but they've been discontinued. Other possibilities are: Vishay TSFF5410 -- 870 nm, 0.% W/A typ 15 ns rise/fall, 125 pF typ Vishay VSLB3940 -- 940 nm, 0.4 W/A typ 15 ns rise/fall, 70 pF typ Panaso... 11 Feb 2010 15:05
PIC18 Timer 2 weirdness
Okay, so I'm trying to resurrect my long-deceased PIC skills. (I do a lot of C++ programming, off and on, but my last significant firmware was about 2000--the Footprints sensor, running on a PIC17C456.) From last time, I remember that MCU programming is all about getting the configuration bits right--once tha... 8 Feb 2010 01:17
Where to get a choke for a class-A single-ended MOSFET power stage?
Thinking of a circuit like this. Simple and elegant-looking: http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/4038/simplefet.jpg Really like a very cheap version of a single-ended triode stage. Basic 'parafeed' arrangement except that no transformer is necessary. Resistors provide bias, negative feedback, and give the FET a... 11 Feb 2010 19:37

Ping Spehro Pefhany question about PIC 18F14K22
Ping Spehro Pefhany question about PIC 18F14K22 I have this PIC, and since you seem to be familiar with it, maybe you know the answer. When I program the PIC, I find that the code is only executed from about location decimal 60 decimal. That is everything before that location is ignored. The PIC jumps directly t... 9 Feb 2010 08:22
