Where can I find a computer like this? Hi: I'm looking for a laptop that: 1. Does not have any non-volatile RAM 2. Does not need any non-volatile RAM to run properly 3. Compromises among the following: 3a. Is the least expensive 3b. Has the most volatile RAM [with the least duration of data remanence after the laptop is offed] 3c. Is compatible w... 2 Mar 2010 23:43
Microvia vs microvia Searching for some small components I came over that one. http://us1.st.com/stonline/products/literature/ds/15894.pdf Page 6 : Micro via SSBU allowed Micro via SBU to be avoided What's the difference between SSBU and SBU vias that make the SBU to avoid? Electrolytic Cap (reverse voltage effects?) Is it safe to operate an aluminum electrolytic cap at 10% reverse voltage? The cap is 1000uF at 35 volts and charges with about 1 mA of current at slow rates of 1 minute or less, and reaches 2 volts reverse v on each half cycle. Seems to work ok, but I'm wondering about the long term effects? I don't think there wi... 28 Feb 2010 05:38
RF Hi, I am trying to put together a wireless system fo the first time. I was told to use a wireless chip nRF24z1 for both transmitter and receiver. I need to layout the PCB for this chip first. So, I found the following note http://www.nordicsemi.com/files/Product/applications/nAN24-09_nRF24Z1_RF_layout_rev1_0.p... 24 Feb 2010 17:43
1 GHz synthesizer I'm developing a 1 GHz fractional-N synthesizer. The reference input is a 50 MHz sine wave which I'm converting to LVDS as follows: 1. 50 MHz sine wave arrives at board mounted SMA in 50-ohm system 2. Converted to 100 ohms differential using Mini-Circuits ADT2-1T transformer 3. Carried 10mm along pair of clos... 26 Feb 2010 23:07

Help choose a PIC programmer. Hi, I am thinking about buying or building a PIC programmer and would appreciate some advice in choosing one. I've never laid hands on one so am I not sure what to look for. I am a hobbyist and would like to program the occasional IC just to simplify my circuit building. It would be nice to program a wide v... 26 Feb 2010 06:21
Adapting a Garmin Traffic Receiver to car antenna? Garmin makes an "integrated" FM traffic info receiver for some models of GPS that allows connection to the car's AM/FM antenna. But not my model (Nuvi 660); I must use only the GTM20, a cigarette-lighter-powered model: <https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=403> Benefits of using the car's antenna are mostl... 6 Mar 2010 11:51
CD4046 Question The data sheet just gives some ancient reference for finding the values for R1, R2, and C1. Is the RC network for the VCO is (R1, R2, C1)? Would I just use the cutoff frequency for the R1 and C2 RC filter (i.e. fc=1/(2*Pi*R1*C1)). Thanks, Chris KQ6UP ... 27 Feb 2010 00:12
Problem with current mirrors Hi, I'm trying to operate MOSFET devices with current mirrors. I want a maximum Vgs, to make sure they have minimum Rds_on. The supply rails on the other hand vary a lot, so I decided to use current sources to develop the required Vgs across a resistor. See http://remco.beryllium.net/Sheet1.pdf for a schemati... 26 Feb 2010 06:21 |
