Why do you say all that? Solaris is (thus far) free, and works on x86,
so why should Linux beat it out? Makes no sense to me.

Sun/Oracle will keep improving it, and everyone else can get it for
free? Sounds pretty good to me!

Solaris appears not to be free anymore. You're supposed to pay after 90
