How can there be a new way of doing something on a 40 year old operating system? How can there be a relatively old M$ way of doing something when M$ is the state of the art? What kind of an idiot would embark on a "learning curve" when the techniques they are learning are at least 20 years out of date? > This kind of activity is usually fun for me, as I like exploring > alternatives (love SLRN, athritis hates it), There it is. You are a victim of slackware hype. slrn. mutt. lynx. Pure text and we don't want any pictures because the "best" programs do not handle bitmapped displays. The "best" programs only use text so that is the way that we, and everybody who wants to communicate with us, is going to have to play. If we have our heads up our asses then surely everybody else should have their heads up their asses as well. Lets make a law banning html, jpgs and gifs from the internet. Hell, lets go back to uucp and bulletin boards! Uucp forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, golly, you explained my problems too. With loosing the feeling in my left little and the nest one and probably will be the middle soon enough due to the ulna muscles choking the nerves plus the arthritis, typing is a chore and many mistakes I have to take time to correct. I'd rather just use one type of program well enough to get the job done and have and that is slrn which is not available in Mandriva 64 which I'm trying out with Gnome. Pam has a habit of disappearing after a follow-up. Oh the fun! -- Bud

But this is true of _all_ linux commands, not just vi commands. If you want to use a straightforward, modern editor then it would seem consistent to want to use a straightforward and modern OS. Ah, but you are the "LewPitcher" troll. You're the guy who uses my name and writes garbage in a bid to embarrass me. But it doesn't work very well, does it? Could you please refrain from trying to confuse the readers of this newsgroup by using my legally acquired domain name? I, and I alone, am LewPitcher.ca. Not you. Me. In fact, you can use your browser to checkout LewPitcher.ca (again), if you want.
