Now, having said that, why are you using linux, which is based on a 40 year old OS, when MS has spent at least 30 years making computers easier to use? Slackware in particular is based on a system written for geeks at a time when only geeks were interested in computers. Windows is a modern operating system written for everyone. And windows works, despite the crying of slackware zealots about its faults, and this is evidenced by the fact that virtually everyone use windows. Virtually nobody uses linux. And the only people who use slackware are old farts and the mentally ill. >>My point isn't that Vi is unusable For many, linux is unusable for the very same reasons. Why on earth should one have to remember the spelling of strange commands, and all the options, when alternative operating systems give you all the commands, all the options, and automagically generated help, when required, and all one has to do is remember which mouse button to click. There is really no reason to complain about one linux command, unless you are willing to complain about them all. > Aaron W. Hsu And that is pronounced Th-th-th-su, in my crowd. It must be that people prefer paying for a Windoze operating system that is defective when they can get the perfect linux OS for free, right doofus? Oh, forgot. People use windoze because of the huge M$ conspiracy, right? The only reason people like point and click over the command line is because Gill Gates told them it was better, right? > go back there Roger u went back before why didnt you stay there, > but we are glad you did come back because of your famous "RM > forgot to keep an eye on his domain and lost it" dummy spits, gave > even the newest of noobies to this group great fits of laughter > and entertainment, what is that they say about KARMA :) Who is this "Roger" guy, anyways? Hallo, Aaron, Du meintest am 28.11.09: >> My point isn't that Vi is unusable > It's plenty usable for those who learn it. If you can't learn Vi, > then you either are purposefully not learning, or you can't possible > have the mental capacity to recover your system in that manner. I can milk cows, everybody can learn milking cows. But what's the profit? Viele Gruesse Helmut "Ubuntu" - an African word, meaning "Slackware is too hard for me". |
