C-multiplier again
I need a super-low noise power supply. I have a 15 volt switching wall-wart input and want as close to 15 volts, regulated, as I can get; 14 would be nice, 13.5 is OK. The LDOs that I can find are all pretty noisy and have mediocre PSRR. So I thought about using a Phil Hobbs-ian c-multiplier transistor, a... 29 May 2010 12:28

38 KHz IR xmtr
Why are there no one-chip 38KHz oscillators for remote control hobbiests? How much does the cheapest PIC cost? All one would need are 3 leads - power/ground/modulation-enable/output. Power driving could be left to the end user. I'm supprised no one makes these. ... 29 May 2010 02:49

MOSFET Usage
I am in the process of designing a device that uses 30A MOSFET for the output. I need it to apply a 12 Vdc source to a switchable load on the ground side. Are there any major issues using a MOSFET in this way? ... 6 Jun 2010 01:37

Attn Jon Kirwan
Jon, last year I referred you to John McArthur's website because you mentioned the sermon on the mount and he was preaching on it. Anyway, the day I referred you it was about Christian persecution and you said there was absolutely NO persecution in this country, even though your own wife was beaten up for bei... 21 May 2010 19:27
simple circuit simulator
I'd like a circuit simulator which is simple to use, like this one: http://www.falstad.com/circuit/e-zenerref.html but that one is slow to use because it's a java applet.. I'm on a mac, so something that works on a mac.. And if you say SPICE, well ok but with an EASY gui then... any exists? Thanks! Bye ... 22 May 2010 07:17

Hot! Hot! Hot!
(no, this isn't spam...) My boss came to me with another brain-stretching problem. We're looking at designs for a new microreactor. We need to heat a section of 1/2" dia. quartz tubing to 1000 oC in 1 second (heating zone is about 1 inch. How to go about this? Inductive coil? Radiant quartz lamps? RF? Microw... 24 May 2010 04:44
